The Experience Behind the Prompt
I've heard "Oh, you just make things pretty" many times throughout my career.
My usual response was, 'No, I make things useful.' But that’s not entirely accurate.
With my traditional art background, I do make things look great. But after years of training in Design Thinking, Consumer Psychology, running thousands of A/B tests, and becoming an expert in user data both qualitative and quantitative — I’ve learned to do much more than that.
With the increasing use of AI, these skills are more important than ever. They help guard against hallucinations, sycophantic outputs, and delusional spiraling. At its current best, at least for now AI operates at roughly the level of an entry-level designer.
My teams and I create experiences that are not only beautiful and highly usable, but ones that consistently exceed business goals and expectaions.
Outside of work, I’ve been trained to stay calm and focused in extremely high-pressure situations. My mental fortitude has been tested through challenges like running an untrained marathon, a 50K ultramarathon, and climbing Mount Baker as a lifelong Texan who has rarely seen snow or mountains. Every year I push myself with a Misogi challenge. Simply put — I don’t get rattled in high-stress situations that often overwhelm others.
